Monsoon Forecast for Jul 4, 2017: Monsoon rains in Kolkata, Rajasthan, Northeast

Southwest Monsoon remained vigorous over Coastal Karnataka and parts of Kerala.

Active Monsoon conditions were seen over Konkan & Goa, South Gujarat, Southeast Rajasthan, Vidarbha, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Gangetic West Bengal and West Uttar Pradesh.

Monsoon was subdued over most parts of Gujarat, North Madhya Pradesh, Marathwada, Rayalaseema and Tamil Nadu. While remaining parts of the country observed normal Monsoon conditions.

Major contribution came from Mount Abu that recorded 103 mm of rainfall in the past 24 hours, followed by Lucknow at 92 mm whereas Mahabaleshwar recorded 85 mm.

As on July 2, the country witnessed 6% surplus rainfall. Presently, North West India is surplus by 49 %, South India by 5%. While, East and Northeast India is deficient by 15%
The Northern Limit of Monsoon continues to pass through Barmer, Sonipat and Shimla up to Pahalgam.

Now, rains are expected to increase over northeastern states and heavy to very heavy rains are possible over Assam, Meghalaya and Manipur.

Few heavy spells are also expected over Southeast Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh and North Chhattisgarh.

During the next 24 hours, Monsoon is likely to remain vigorous over northeastern states and at parts over East Rajasthan.

Meanwhile, South Gujarat, Konkan & Goa, Coastal Karnataka, Kerala, Bihar, East Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh will witness active Monsoon.

Live status of Lightning and thunder

Normal Monsoon conditions are expected over Jharkhand, West Bengal, Coastal Odisha, Vidarbha, East Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.

On the other hand, Monsoon rains will remain subdued over Telangana, Rayalaseema, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Delhi and Haryana.
