Monsoon Forecast for July 24, 2018: Heavy rain in Madhya Pradesh, East Rajasthan and parts of Gujarat

The axis of Monsoon trough is currently passing through Sri Ganganagar, Narnaul, Gwalior, Sidhi and towards East-central Bay of Bengal.

During the last 24 hours, Monsoon remained vigorous over East Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

Meanwhile, active Monsoon conditions were witnessed by Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Jharkhand and West Bengal.

Major rainfall contribution came from Diamond Harbour in West Bengal that recorded 170 mm of rain, followed by Pilani 133 mm and Ratlam 105 mm.

As on July 22, the countrywide cumulative rainfall is deficient by 3%. Division-wise, Central and South India are rainfall surplus by 17% and 15%. Meanwhile, Northwest and East & Northeast India are rain deficient by 7% and 33%, respectively.

During the next 24 hours, Madhya Pradesh would observe vigorous Monsoon conditions that would give heavy to very heavy rains.

Meanwhile, active Monsoon conditions will prevail over East Rajasthan and parts of Gujarat due to which light to moderate rains with few heavy spells are likely.

Normal Monsoon rains are likely over Konkan & Goa, Coastal Karnataka, Kerala, Parts of Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Prdaesh, Uttarakhand, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya and Nagaland.
