Monsoon Forecast for Sep 19, 2018: Rain in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana to continue

At present, the Monsoon trough is defused and temporarily is not marked.

During the last 24 hours, Monsoon remained active over North Tamil Nadu, Rayalaseema, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. At the same time, active monsoon conditions were also witnessed over parts of South Interior Karnataka, North Interior Karnataka, Madhya Maharashtra and Odisha.

Major rainfall contribution came from Medak in Telangana that recorded 77 mm of rain, followed by Gadag 67 mm, Jalgaon 64 mm and Anantapur 57 mm.

As on September 18, the country wide rainfall deficiency remains at 9 percent. South India is the only sub division which at present is witnessing normal rains. Meanwhile, northwest, central and east & northeast India continue to be rain deficient by 6%, 6% and 24%, respectively.

During the next 24 hours, active Monsoon conditions would be seen over Tamil Nadu, Rayalaseema, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana, giving scattered heavy rains.

Meanwhile, Monsoon would remain normal over Odisha, West Bengal and the northeastern states. Rest all places will observe subdued Monsoon activity.
