1. Tranquil ‘Tawang’ in Arunachal Pradesh

Tawang does not see the regular tourist crowd, but manages to rank among the most visited places in Arunachal Pradesh. Situated at an altitude of over 10,000 feet, the place is a perfect example of natural beauty.

Tawang depicts Buddhist culture at its best and is also a home to Tawang monastery, considered to be the biggest Buddhist monastery in the world outside of Lhasa.

The major attractions include rock climbing, paragliding and river rafting. This place is a bonanza for all the adventure lovers.

March to October make an ideal time to visit Tawang. The place observes large number of tourists during June.

2. Peaceful ‘Pelling’ in Sikkim

Standing at a height of 2100 meters above the sea level, Pelling is more serene and closer to nature. The region is frequently visited by mountaineers as it is a base camp for several trekking routes. Famous monastery, some pretty waterfalls and the famous Khecheopalri Lake are the city’s pride.

Pelling’s beauty glorifies between February and May and from September to mid-December.

3.Young and fresh ‘Yercaud’ in Tamil Nadu

Yercaud, located about 1,515 meters above sea level, is a perfect place for couples who urge for long walks around forest, trekking and boating. Servarayan temple is its highest point and the place is also characterised by beautiful parks and gardens.

Best time to visit Yercaud

October to June is the favourable period to visit this tiny yet peaceful place.

4.Kaleidoscopic ‘Kausani’ in Uttaranchal

Kausani offers breath taking views of the Himalayan peaks -Trishul, Nanda Devi and Panchchuli. Tourists often refer Kausani as “Mini Switzerland” due to its dense forests and tea gardens. Anashakti Ashram and Pant Museum are some of the spots frequently visited by tourists here.

Best time to visit Kausani

This hill town is at its best between the months of March and May.

5. Pleasant ‘Ponmudi’ in Kerala

Ponmudi, located in the Thiruvananthapuram district is famous for its dramatic sunrises and beautiful hills. The region is characterised by tea gardens and is perfect for short excursions. The crystal clear water of River Kallar and peaceful Meenmutti falls make the place perfect for a day out.

The region observes tourists flocking from different corners of the world between October and March.
