All Not Yet Over And Done For Gujarat, Rainy Weekend With Spillover Likely

State of Gujarat has been experiencing mostly dry weather conditions for the last 2 weeks.  Earlier the state witnessed a deluge in many parts during 2 successive weeks from 11th-17thAug and 18th-24thAug,  with an excess rainfall of 108% and 60% rainfall respectively. In the recent days, 23rd Aug witnessed the last wet spell and most parts of state gone dry thereafter. Week between 25th-31stAug registered large deficit of -87% rainfall.

As on 23rdAug,  Gujarat was rain surplus by 31% and Saurashtra & Kutch was in excess with 52%. These reserves got consumed over the last 2 weeks and Gujarat is down to a surplus of 19% and S&K dropping to 35%, as of 05thSep. The margins of surplus will shrink further for 3 more days and build up thereafter. Monsoon is likely to become active again and a prolonged wet spell is expected between 10th and 14thSep.

Fresh monsoon system as low pressure is likely to develop over Bay of Bengal, anytime soon.  Intensified system as depression is expected to move inland and traverse across the central parts of the country. The weather system will reach Gujarat and meander over the region between 10th and 13thSep.  Heavy rains are likely over many parts from 10th to 14thSep. 

The intensity and spread of rains may go wild on 11th and 12thSep. South Gujarat and Saurashtra will be at risk of flooding rains between 10th and 12th Sep. Kutch and North Gujarat are expected to witness widespread rains on 13th and 14th Sep, before the weather system crosses over to Rajasthan.
