These rainfall activities have been attributed to two systems in proximity of Mumbai. One of them is the off shore trough which is persisting running from the Konkan region up to Coastal Karnataka. Another system is the low pressure area which is currently stationed over North Madhya Maharashtra and adjoining areas.

As per weathermen at Skymet, moderate showers with isolated heavy spells of rain are expected to continue over Mumbai and  Thane today. However, after today, the rainfall activity will witness a reduction. However, scattered light rains with few moderate spells may occur tomorrow as well.
