The hilly states of north India now have already seen two back-to-back Western disturbances which have resulted in snowfall activity over the hills of north India particularly over higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir along with Himachal Pradesh.

A very decent amount of snowfall activity has already been observed and the current western disturbance is still over the hills and is expected to continue affecting and causing snowfall until January 13. January 14 onward, large clearance is expected.

Due to the presence of snow over the hills, there is a risk of avalanches over these parts, particularly places around 10 thousand feet or above that. Thus, residents and authorities should remain aware and on alert for the risk of such avalanche occurrences.
