Churu in Rajasthan has become the first station to slip into the minus category this season. The city has recorded its minimum at -0.9 degrees, which hasn't been recorded by any other station so far. Moreover, earlier Churu had touched 0 degree Celsius on December 26, but it hadn't slipped under 0 degree mark yet.
In fact, the city has been on top of the list of the coldest places in India for the past month and there have been only a couple of occasions when another city has surpassed the list.
Earlier, eastern parts of Rajasthan were much colder than the western parts but now western regions have also picked up and are in single digits, right from Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Barmer, and Phalodi.
Earlier, there was a large distinction between west and east and western regions were a little more comfortable with minimums of more than 10 degrees but they have all dipped below 10 degrees now.
However, the eastern parts continue to be colder than the western regions. Nevertheless, Rajasthan is likely to see such low minimums in the next few days.
