Delhi Gets Sporadic Showers, Dry Weather And Rising Mercury Expected Ahead

Delhi/NCR received light showers yesterday. It was a brief spell in the early evening hours between 1600-1800 hrs. Some pockets skipped the weather activity and few others measured very light rainfall. Base observatory Safdarjung, airport observatory Palam and Meteorological office Lodhi Road, all recorded mere trace of rainfall. Central parts of Noida received sharp showers, albeit for a short duration. Many observatories like Pusa, Narela, Jafarpur, Mungeshpur, and Nazafgarh did not register any rainfall. Cloudy sky and scattered sprinkles led to a drop in temperature, which had earlier gone above normal by nearly 3°C.

As expected, fair weather conditions have resumed. Expect a fair amount of sunshine in the next few days and a rise of mercury on the weekend and later next week. In the wake of the western disturbance, cool air will leave some nip in the air for the next 2 days. Night temperatures may dip by about 2°C. Even the day temperatures are unlikely to witness any sharp rise of mercury, for the next 2 days. However, the maximum temperature is expected to rise next week and may inch closer to 34-35°C.

Delhi received a spell of rain after a gap of 10 days. The next round is expected not before the next weekend. Pre - Holi showers are quite likely between 22nd and 24th March. Even, the festival on 25th March may find some fleeting showers to cool down the heat, likely to build up, by then. Weather conditions in the morning will remain pleasant and bearably warm afternoon can be expected for the next 4-5 days.
