Delhi has been witnessing on and off rain activities since September 12. Until now, Delhi has recorded 137.2 mm of rain. Average rainfall of September for Delhi is 128 mm. Palam observatory witnessed 102 mm rain on September 23rd which was the highest 24 hour rainfall after 2011.
A low-pressure area which developed over North Bay of Bengal travelled up to northwest Madhya Pradesh. It weakened over Northwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining parts of Southwest Uttar Pradesh. A Cyclonic Circulation is persisting over southern parts of Central Uttar Pradesh and a trough is extending from this cyclonic circulation to Punjab across Delhi and Haryana. These weather systems are responsible for continuous rain over Delhi and NCR since the last three days.
Light to moderate rain may continue over Delhi until tomorrow afternoon. There is a possibility of isolated rainfall activity which will be due to localise weather conditions and no significant weather system even after tomorrow and will continue until the end of the month. Day temperatures may increase due to clear skies and bright sunshine but morning and night or will remain comfortable.
Normal withdrawal date of monsoon from Delhi is around September 25th. This year monsoon withdrawal will be delayed and we expect the monsoon to withdraw from Delhi in the first week of October.
