Delhi Rains Tonight - Tomorrow, Mercury Drop likely

The national capital is likely to have a second spell of winter showers in this month. Earlier, the city witnessed light rains between 04th & 05th Feb 2025, amounting to 0.5 mm of rainfall. More than halfway through the month, Delhi is well short of its normal monthly rainfall of 21.5 mm. Light to moderate rainfall is expected late tonight and tomorrow. The city may add another 5 mm of rainfall.
A western disturbance is marked over the Jammu & Kashmir and North Pakistan regions. An induced cyclonic circulation is also marked over West Rajasthan and border areas. Both systems will move eastward, complementing each other. Plains of North India covering parts of Punjab, Haryana, North Rajasthan, and West Uttar Pradesh will have light to moderate rain and thundershower activity. Delhi falls on the outer periphery of the main system. Yet, it will be within reach to have light to moderate and intermittent rainfall on 19th and 20th Feb 2025.
Clouds are likely to come up anytime soon, making it a cloudy evening. The rainfall will commence very late in the night or in the wee hours. The intermittent and scattered rainfall will continue over Delhi/NCR in the morning hours. Later, the rains will become patchy in the forenoon hours and may recede in the afternoon. Scattered and thin clouds may persist over the region for the subsequent 24-48 hours, without causing any significant weather activity.
The national capital has been recording day temperatures in excess of 28°C for the last four days. It had touched 29°C on 17th Feb, the second highest of this year so far. Today also, the temperature is likely to reach or exceed 28°C. In view of likely weather activity in the night and tomorrow morning, the mercury will dip to about 24°-25°C tomorrow and rise again, thereafter, to remain in the high 20s around the weekend. The minimum temperature, which dipped today to 10.4°C, is expected to rise tomorrow by 3°-4°C. Subsequently, the temperature may hover around 10°C for the rest of the week.
