Delhi rains had made an appearance breaking January records, all thanks to the Western Disturbance in the Western Himalayas as well as its induced Cyclonic Circulation over the plains of North India. Since the wake of the system, maximum temperatures have been settling below the 15 degree mark.
So much so that yesterday, the base Observatory Safdarjung saw its maximum settling at 12.1 degrees Celsius, which happens to be 10 degrees below the normal levels and also, the lowest this season, resulting in severe cold day conditions.
Palam observatory also witnessed its lowest maximum of the season at 11.6 degrees Celsius, which is 11 degrees below the normal levels.
Now, cold day conditions may take a slight break and conditions and a slight increase in the maximums is expected. It may shift to observing cold wave conditions (when minimums are below the 4 degree mark), or remain at the heels of it. However, it is not expected to be as intense and some relief during the day is expected for Delhiites.
