Delhi Records Second Highest Temperature In Last 5 Years, Mercury To Soar Further

Base observatory of Delhi, Safdarjung recorded day maximum of 31.5 degree, the highest of this season. Also, this is the 2nd highest temperature in last 5 years. Record temperature, since 2011 being 33.2 degrees, observed on 25th Feb 2021. Yesterday's temperature was huge 7 degrees above the normal. Mercury is expected to stay above the average value for the next few days, as well. 

Month of February starts with a normal of 23 degree and closes with 25-26 degree.  Day temperature has generally remained above the normal although, except few days.  For the last one week, the mercury has been steadily rising and culminated with the highest of this season yesterday. 
A western disturbance has been moving across northern mountains.

Weather activity will remain confined to the hills and some northern parts of Punjab and Haryana. The reversal in the wind pattern and also a drop of speed, over and around Delhi has resulted in the rise of temperature.

Maximum temperature is likely to exceed 32 degree today.  Again, change of winds are likely tomorrow with the moving away of western disturbance. Day temperatures are expected to drop marginally over the next 3 days. They may still hover around 29-30 degree. Mercury will climb again from 24th onward to cross 31 degree, later.  February 2023 is likely to be one of  the hottest month in the recent past.

Day temperature is expected to soar further today and surpass yesterday's mark.  It is inching towards becoming the 2nd highest, since 2011.  Today, it may breach the mark of 32 degrees.
