Amidst a bright and sunny day with a moderate breeze, Delhi recorded the warmest day of this year so far. Base observatory at Safdarjung recorded a maximum temperature of 27.4°C, about 4°C above the normal. This has been the highest temperature, surpassing the earlier high of 27°C registered on 31st Jan 2025. Mercury is expected to rise a notch further today and drop thereafter. Dry weather conditions will continue through the week over and around the capital city.

The month of February has an average of about 24°-25°C during the middle of the month and rises to 27°-28°C by the fag end. The temperatures do rise during the second half of the month and breach the 30°C mark on many occasions. In 2023, the base station Safdarjung recorded a high of 33.6°C on 21st February. However, last year remained relatively cooler and the highest maximum got arrested at 29.7°C.

A western disturbance is moving across the northern mountains and the hills will have rain and snow for the next 3 days. Weather activity will remain confined to the hills only and the plains across North India, including Delhi, will witness dry weather conditions. The day temperature is likely to rise further today and may exceed 28°C.

The surface and low-level winds are likely to become stronger tomorrow onwards. The speedy winds will be turbulent enough to arrest any further rise of temperature during the rest of the week. Moderate to strong surface winds are expected during the day, right till the weekend on 15th-16th February. The minimum temperature will remain checked and no abrupt rise is expected during the week.
