
Dense fog continues to persist in Delhi/NCR region with visibility reducing to less than 50 meters. Airport observatory at Palam was shrouded with dense to very dense fog with zero visibility between 0200 hr and 0830 hr, today morning. However, unlike other days, improvement in the visibility conditions was quite fast. Delhiites will find a fair amount of sunshine today, possibly raising day temperature to above 20°C. Minimum temperatures, as expected, have dropped today morning.
Dense fog is likely on the weekend also, on Saturday and Sunday. Rains will follow early next week between 21st and 23rdJan 2025. Temperature profile will reverse once again, during that time, with minimum temperatures rising above the normal and day mercury sliding below the average. Weather conditions will find clearance later and stay good for the Republic Day.
A western disturbance is arriving tomorrow over the Western Himalayas. However, the weather activity will remain confined to the mountains. The next system which is likely to approach on 21st Jan will also have an induced circulation over parts of Punjab and Rajasthan. The duo together will impact weather conditions in the hills and plains, both. The spread and intensity will be large on 22nd Jan 2025.
The cyclonic circulation will move over Delhi and adjoining parts of Haryana on 22nd Jan. On 21st Jan, the weather activity is going to be minimal for Delhi but increase manifold, the next day, on 22ndJan. Fairly widespread rain and thundershowers are likely for a fair amount of duration. The system will further shift eastward over West Uttar Pradesh, the next day, on 23rd Jan. But, Delhi will still remain on the peripherals of weather activity, which will largely cover Haryana and West Uttar Pradesh. The passage of the weather system may add another 5-10mm rainfall in Delhi. Cold wave conditions may follow for Delhi/NCR in the wake of the system.
