Active westerly systems are unlikely over the northern parts, and the equatorial systems are expected to take a ‘break’ for the next four days. Least weather activity is expected over most parts of the country between 28th and 31st March 2025. The only areas with noticeable weather activity will include the higher reaches and elevated parts beyond 12,000 feet of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh in the north, Arunachal Pradesh in the east and the north-south stretch of Kerala along the southern shore. Indian seas and island territories on either side are likely to remain dormant during this period.

The leftover western disturbance over North Jammu and Kashmir and the remnant of cyclonic circulation over Northeast India will trigger scattered rain and snow over higher reaches of Kashmir and the east-west stretch of Arunachal Pradesh, bordering the China region. A north-south trough along Konkan & Goa, Coastal Karnataka and Kerala with embedded circulation in between will have light weather activity for a brief duration over Kerala.  Plains of the North and Western parts and the eastern states will observe fair weather activity in the remaining days of March. The central parts of the country and a large portion of South India, outside Kerala, will witness dry weather conditions during this period. Islands of the Bay of Bengal and a group of archipelagos in the Lakshadweep territory will also remain silent during this period.

As a result of this dry weather spell over most parts, an increase in temperature is likely over western, northern and eastern parts of the country. However, a major spike will come during the first week of April, more so in its second half. First 40°C over these parts is quite likely in the first week of April. Stations like Amritsar, Ludhiana, Patiala, Bhatinda, Hisar, Karnal, Sirsa, Meerut and Delhi/NCR will bear the risk of recording 40°C. Heat wave conditions are quite likely over a few pockets during this period.
