Early first spell of snowfall for Uttarakhand in September itself

Parts of the state of Uttarakhand on Saturday evening and night saw some early snowfall activity, making it the first snowfall of the season for the hills. The regions to have received snow were the higher regions including Badrinath, Hemkund Sahib is at 15000 ft. and Pithoragarh Peaks, which is at 20-24000 ft.

Snowfall was there up till the bordering region of China including Darma Valley, Dharchula about 12-14 inches. Normally, snowfall is seen by October, but this has been an early affair for the regions.

The weather activity continued yesterday as well with lower reaches of Dehradun, Tehri, Bageshwar and adjoining areas recording rainfall activities. In the coming days, Rainfall activity may be seeing rains in next couple of days. Snowfall may or may not be seen in the higher reaches.

These activities are attributed to the Western Disturbance, which as a trough is moving across the Northern Mountains. The system in Bay is resulting in easterlies blowing over Uttarakhand region.
