Rain in Uttar Pradesh

Extended Monsoon rains have refused to relent down in Uttar Pradesh, as moderate to heavy rains continued to lash parts of the state. In span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Tuesday, Jhansi has recorded 75 mm of rains. The state capital of Lucknow too recorded some light rains to the tune of 3 mm.

Moreover, rains are likely to increase over central and eastern part of Uttar Pradesh further today. According to Skymet Weather, a cyclonic circulation has formed over Southeast Uttar Pradesh and adjoining areas. This has infused fresh surge and would continue to give more rains over the state, barring western parts.

Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Faizabad, Amethi, Varanasi, Raibarelly, Gonda, Prayagraj, Chandauli would see moderate rain and thundershowers with one or two heavy spells for the next 24 hours. However, these showers would not trigger flood-like situation. The recent heavy downpour had led to flooding which had claimed at least 70 lives across Uttar Pradesh.

Thereafter, weather would go dry over most parts of the state as system would start weakening. But, isolated rains may continue over eastern areas.

As per weathermen, this may be the last spell of rains of the season for Uttar Pradesh. Now, weather would start clearing up and Monsoon would also start retreating from western parts of Uttar Pradesh October 10 onwards. The state has seen good showers this Monsoon season. In fact, continues spell of rains had also triggered flooding in parts of East Uttar Pradesh.
