This system which is travelling from Middle East is expected to lash rain and snow over the hills of North India and gradually would give rain and thundershower activities over the northwestern plains by end of Monday i.e. February 25.

These rain and thundershowers accompanied with strong winds and isolated hailstorm may further increase its coverage across areas right from Punjab, Delhi-NCR to West Bengal and northeastern states by February 26.

This wet spell may further push eastwards from Lucknow to Patna, Kolkata and Guwahati for the closing two days of February, as dry air gradually seeps in from northwest direction.

According to latest indications, the greatest threat is expected in the foothills of the mountains across both, eastern and northeastern, as well as adjoining parts of Bangladesh.

Mudslides can be triggered in the higher latitudes such as regions of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, underneath where snow will blast the peaks. The risk of avalanches is also high due to heavy snow in the mountains.
