First spell of dust storm, thunderstorm of the season likely over Northern Plains

April 13, 2022 7:37 PM |

The plains of North India have been witnessing intense heat for quite some time now. Many parts of the North Indian plains have been observing maximum temperatures above the 40° mark. So much so that heat wave conditions did grip many areas in the planes during the last few days.

Now, the situation is all set to change with the first dust storm is likely to make an appearance over Punjab and Haryana. Delhi also stands an outside chance with parts of extreme West Rajasthan also likely to see similar weather activities.

The reason for such weather is attributed to the Western Disturbance which has an induced Cyclonic Circulation for Haryana and adjoining regions. With this, temperatures have dropped a bit, but are still around 40 degrees, thus, heat remains a factor in causing such thunderstorm activities.

The first thunderstorm and dust storm is expected to be seen today and tomorrow, along with some activity even on April 15. Intensity will be at its peak today, reducing thereafter.
