Fog to grip Kolkata, Gangetic West Bengal

The city of joy Kolkata has been experiencing dry weather conditions from the past few days. As per weathermen, fog was witnessed at scattered places across West Bengal including Kolkata during the past day.

As per Skymet Weather, cold winds were prevailing over Kolkata and adjoining suburban regions. These winds are disturbed by a cyclonic circulation persisting over northern parts of Bay of Bengal.

Hence, moisture feeding is taking place from the Bay of Bengal. Due to the mixing of cold, warm and moist air mass, moderate to dense fog occurred over Kolkata. It is anticipated that fog is likely to persist during the next 36 to 48 hours during early morning hours over Kolkata.

Many stations of Gangetic West Bengal would also observe foggy mornings. The day temperatures are likely to remain between 27°C to 29°C across Kolkata. While the night temperatures are expected to range between 14°C to 16°C. Scattered medium-high clouds also expected over the city during this period.

Weather will remain comfortable during the daytime, while nights will remain comfortable. Due to the presence of fog the visibility will be low during the morning, air, rail and road transport will be affected across Kolkata and Gangetic West Bengal.

It is also advisable to not venture out during the morning hours to avoid any unforeseen situation due to the presence of fog as the visibility levels will be very low.
