Foggy mornings to prevail in Delhi, Amritsar, Gorakhpur, Kanpur, Lucknow

People residing in parts of East India are waking up to dense foggy mornings almost every day. Parts of East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Punjab, and Tripura have witnessed dense to very dense fog today as well.

On the contrary, the intensity of fog in Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi, East Madhya Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal was moderate.

The lowest visibility recorded was 25 meters each in Bahraich and Sultanpur. While, Patiala, Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Bhagalpur, Patna, and Kailashahar recorded the visibility close to 50 meters each.

Additionally, Guwahati recorded the visibility dropping up to 200 meters. While Hisar, Delhi, Satna, Malda, and Itanagar witnessed the visibility dropping to 500 each meter each.

As per Skymet Weather, a feeble cyclonic circulation lies over the northwestern parts of Uttar Pradesh and adjoining parts of foothills of Himalayas. Moreover, light and variable winds are prevailing along the foothills of Himalayas from Punjab to Sub-Himalayan West Bengal.

Due to the presence of the Western Disturbance over the Western Himalayan region, the moisture feeding is available along with cold air mass. This has resulted in moderate to dense fog at many places with very dense fog layer over Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

Skymet Weather reiterates that dense to very dense fog is anticipated to continue during the next 2-3 days over these regions especially during the early morning hours.

Thus, the cities such as Amritsar, Patiala, Ludhiana, Sri Ganganagar, Delhi, Lucknow, Bareilly, Kanpur, Gorakhpur, West Champaran, and Muzaffarpur.
