The wait for Mumbai Monsoon is going to end anytime now. Monsoon 2019 had picked up pace during the last 48 hours and has been progressing since then. It has already reached till Alibagh and conditions are favourable for Monsoon to advance further and cover Mumbai now.

Monsoon 2019 has already missed the deadline and has been running behind the schedule by almost 15 days. According to Skymet Weather, Monsoon flavour has been prevailing over Mumbai as winds are westerlies and temperatures have dropped but rainfall has been missing.

Although on and off rains have been lashing the city in June, but typical Mumbai rains have been missing. Usually Mumbai records heavy to very heavy rains just before the onset of Monsoon. However, any such scenario is not expected over Mumbai, this season.

As per weathermen, Monsoon would not make a thumping start and thus, heavy rains are ruled out at the time of onset. However, we can expect good moderate showers over Mumbai in the coming days.

A cyclonic circulation has been prevailing over Coastal Karnataka, which has kept the Monsoon surge active. With this, rains would revive over Mumbai, which has been mainly dry weather for the last four days.

There are good chances of light to moderate rain and thundershowers in Mumbai on Monday as well for the next few days. We expect Mumbai rains to increase with fresh Monsoon surge around June 26. It is then we can expect some heavy rains in store for the city.

A daunting target of 493.1 mm lies ahead for Mumbai in the month of June, wherein the city has only been able to manage 165 mm, so far. Looking at the scenario, Mumbai might miss this target. Blame it all on delayed Mumbai Monsoon!
