The last 24 hours were not as rainy but still, light rains did make an appearance over almost the entire city. In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, the city observatory of Bengaluru recorded 3 mm of rainfall. Not only this, Bengaluru airport also witnessed light rainfall to the tune of 1.8 mm.

These rainfall activities can be attributed to the presence of two troughs. One of which is running from South Madhya Maharashtra across Coastal Karnataka to Lakshadweep. Another trough is seen extending from Jharkhand across Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu up to Comorin region.

Under the influence of these weather features, moisture incursion has increased over the region to quite an extent. Due to this, cloud development has been taking place over the city resulting in rains.

Now, during the next 24 to 48 hours, Bengaluru is expected to witness light to moderate showers. These rains will result in all the more pleasant weather conditions over the region.

So far, both Bangalore Urban and rural subdivisions have been witnessing excess rains to the tune of 33 and 28 percent, respectively. With more rains in the offing, the percentage is only expected to witness an increase.
