Good Monsoon rains approaching Gujarat and South Rajasthan

Good Monsoon rains have been evading Gujarat for past few days. However, rains have picked up pace across Gujarat during the last 24 hours.

Deesa recorded the highest rainfall of 64 mm of rain in span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday. This was followed by Idar 23 mm, Surat 22 mm, and Amreli 21.4 mm.

These rains can be attributed to the cyclonic circulation prevailing over parts of Maharashtra and adjoining Madhya Pradesh.

Further, the system will continue to prevail but will move in a northwest direction. Moreover, a Western Disturbance is also passing through Jammu and Kashmir.

Both the systems will be interacting with each other, giving good rain over Gujarat region during the next 24-48 hours. These rains will also spill over to the parts of Saurashtra and Kutch region. However, intensity of rains will be more over parts of Gujarat region.

Adjoining parts of South Rajasthan will also see rain on account of this system.

Gujarat has been the most rain deficit pocket of the country. As on July 25, Gujarat region has been rain deficit by 42%, while Saurashtra and Kutch region is witnessing deficiency of 56%.
