Southwest Monsoon has not been too kind to Telangana for quite some time now. The region has not received very good rains for a long time. The month of August hasn’t brought very good news for the newbie state.

However, tides are likely to take a fortunate turn and good Monsoon rains are all set to make a comeback over the state. These Monsoon rains are expected to continue for a good three to four days.

At present, a Monsoon system in the form of a Low Pressure Area is over west-central Bay of Bengal off the Andhra Pradesh coast. During the next 24 to 48 hours, the weather system is expected to move inland.

Thus, Telangana will begin to receive good Monsoon rains with the movement of the system. A few areas including Ramagundam have received some rains during the last 24 hours as well due to the moisture incursion from the Bay.

During this period, the capital city, Hyderabad is also expected to receive light to moderate Monsoon showers. These rains will continue until the end of the month. In fact, chances are that August may end on a rainy note over the state.

So far, Telangana is witnessing a rainfall deficiency of 9 percent. These upcoming Monsoon rains may help in reducing that very deficiency.
