As per Skymet Weather, these rains can be attributed to the offshore trough along the West Coast from South Gujarat to Kerala Coast. However, this trough is likely to weaken and due to this, the intensity of rains over Konkan and Goa will decrease. Moreover, the axis of Monsoon trough is toward north; hence the rain activity will be subdued for the next couple of days over entire Maharashtra.

In the span of last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday, Matheran recorded a whopping 204 mm of rainfall, followed by Bhira at 116 mm, Mahabaleshwar 110 mm, Thane 95 mm, Mumbai 86 mm, Dahanu 79 mm, Alibag 67 mm and Harnai 63 mm.

Other parts that recorded light to moderate showers during the same time frame consist of Nashik at 31 mm, Pune 18 mm, Kolhapur 16 mm, Vengurla 13 mm, Nagpur 6 mm and Malegaon 5 mm.
