The month of September in contrast with August has not been very positive in terms of rainfall for the state of Maharashtra. Rains have reduced considerably in the state and only a few isolated pockets have been witnessing good rains while the other parts are either receiving very light spells or are mainly dry.
However, the last 48 hours were a complete change for the third largest state (area wise) of the country. Most parts of Maharashtra, specifically, Vidarbha region has been lashed by good Monsoon showers.
Within the span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Wednesday, Aurangabad recorded 53 mm of good rains, Jeur 40 mm, Kolhapur 35 mm, Jalna 28 mm, Nashik 26.4 mm, Sangli 24.2 mm, Pune 5 mm and Nagpur witnessed 5.2 mm of rains. However, the capital of the state, Mumbai managed to record merely 0.4 mm of rains in contrast with the good rains it recorded in the last 48 hours.
