Good rains likely over Kolkata, West Bengal

The City of Joy and its adjoining areas in the state of West Bengal have been witnessing pleasant weather conditions with the appearance of light rains on several occasions. Some areas did receive a few moderate spells of rainfall as well.

While light rainfall activity has been witnessed a day before wherein Kolkata recorded light rainfall of 4 mm. However, rainfall activity did reduce over the region and the city of joy could barely witness traces of rain during this time frame.

These rainfall activities have been attributed to the Axis of the Monsoon trough which has been oscillating resulting in some rainfall activity over the state of West Bengal.

During the next 24 hours also, Kolkata as well as its adjoining areas will continue to witness patchy rains only.

However, there may be some increase in the rainfall activity as a cyclonic circulation which was over the Arakan coast has moved in a northwestward direction. Thus, it will shift closer to Northeast Bay of Bengal.

Thus, light to moderate showers may occur over Kolkata and other parts of West Bengal during the next 24 hours. Not only this, the weather conditions will also become slightly more pleasant due to increase in Monsoon rains.

As of now, the state of West Bengal has been witnessing a surplus of 8 percent. In the coming days also, the percentage is expected to remain close to this.
