Gujarat continues to witness moderate Monsoon rains

August 24, 2016 7:39 AM | Skymet Weather Team

The low pressure area over South Rajasthan and adjoining Gujarat has given fairly widespread rain over entire state of Gujarat. Though the intensity was relatively low, mainly light to moderate rain was there and heavy rain was not occurred. These rains are very much beneficial for the Kharif crops.

In the last 24 hours, Ahmadabad recorded 6 mm of rainfall, Baroda 19 mm, Surat 16 mm and Rajkot received light rain only. But more rain is expected over the state in next 24 hours.

Gradually this low pressure area will move towards South Pakistan and will give rainfall over South Sindh and Balochistan. Since last 2-3 days scattered light rain was going and this rainfall will continue for another 24 hours.

Now anther weather system which is over North Madhya Pradesh will also move gradually towards East Rajasthan and is likely to affect Gujarat in terms of rainfall after 2 days. But it should be noted that around that time only East Gujarat will get scattered light to moderate rain.

Kutch region is still deprived of rains. But we expect this present system will give light to moderate rains over Kutch region in next 24 hours.

Gujarat subdivision and Saurashtra & Kutch subdivision are still rain deficient, so this rain spell may bring it closer normal.
