It’s just the beginning of the summer and Gujarat is already reeling under intense heat wave. In absence of any weather activity, both maximum and minimum temperatures are settling at a level way above normal across the state.

While scorching sun is making day uncomfortable, nights are also not giving any relief to the residents. Almost all cities have been recording maximum temperature around 41°C and minimum temperature in mid 20s. Normal average day temperature for the city in March is 35.7°C, while average night temperature is 19.1°C.

According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, anti-cyclonic circulation is prevailing over the region and hot winds are blowing from the land, thus shooting both day and night temperatures.

Let us have a look at the maximum and minimum temperatures across Gujarat:

As per the latest forecast by Skymet, a brief respite can be expected in another three days due to an approaching cyclonic circulation, which would reverse the wind pattern. However, system would not give any rain over the state and hence only a marginal drop in the temperatures.

Apart from Gujarat, adjoining places of West Rajasthan including Jaisalmer, Barmer and Udaipur have also felt the heat. On Monday, Jaisalmer recorded maximum of 40.3°C, Barmer 40.6°C and Udaipur 36.8°C.
