For the last many days, parts East Madhya Pradesh were receiving good Monson rains. Whereas, the western part of the state was experiencing almost dry weather conditions. However, on the past day, the tables turned upside down, as West Madhya Pradesh finally received some good Monsoon rains.

After a long gap, West Madhya Pradesh also received moderate to heavy rains mainly, Khargone, Indore, Ujjain, and Khandwa. These rains were due to the westerly movement of the Depression which was over South Chhattisgarh and Odisha.

In the last 24 hours, from 08:30 am on Wednesday, Indore recorded 59 mm of rains, Umaria 48 mm, Satna 28 mm, Malanjkhand 27 mm, Khandwa 23 mm, Dhar 21 mm, Pachmarhi 18 mm, Sidhi 17 mm, Bhopal 16 mm, Jabalpur 15 mm, Chhindwara 15 mm, Guna 12 mm, Betul 12 mm, Ujjain 11 mm, Sagar 9 mm, Khargone 7 mm and Hoshangabad recorded 5 mm of rains.

In fact, as per the latest report, at least 17 travelers were brushed away near the Sultangarh Waterfall in Shivpuri district as the water level rose sharply due to the incessant rains. In addition, 30 others were stranded on the rocks wit only seven been rescued so far.

Now, the Depression lies over South Chhattisgarh and adjoining Vidarbha. As this Depression is expected to move further west-northwestwards, and hence, we expect moderate to heavy showers to continue over southwestern parts of Madhya Pradesh for the next 24-48 hours. Places like Khargone, Khandwa, Indore, Ratlam, and Ujjain may experience these moderate to heavy showers.

As per Skymet Weather, gradually, the Depression would weaken in intensity into a well-marked low-pressure area. Thus, in the wake of this, rains may reduce over parts of the state. However, light rains would still continue.
