Rain and thundershower activities have been lashing Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh lately.
Meteorologists at Skymet have predicted light to moderate rain and thundershowers with one or two intense spells in Chhattisgarh and many parts of East Madhya Pradesh today. There are also chances of isolated hailstorm activities. The convective clouds are expected to be at a height of 9 to 10 km. Rains would be accompanied by strong winds. Heavy rain and hailstorm in some parts may lead to crop damage as well.

These on and off rains are expected to continue until tomorrow.
These rains can be attributed to the Confluence Zone over Central India along with a North-South Trough extending from East Madhya Pradesh to Telangana across Vidarbha.
By tomorrow evening, the rain belt will shift towards the east i.e North Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand area and start giving rain there. By this time, the weather activities would taper from East Madhya Pradesh and some parts of Chhattisgarh.

The central parts of the country observed good winter rain in January and February. March has also been good so far in terms of rainfall. Considering chances of more rain in near further, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh might set some new records.
