Highest rains in July for Bangalore in seven years

July 28, 2016 11:52 AM |

Highest rains in July for Bangalore in seven yearsBangalore rains were displaying a poor performance during the month of July. Barring a few occasions, the city had not recorded heavy rains at all.

In fact, it seemed like the city had been missing its rainy charm. However, tides took a fortunate turn and Bangalore rains returned.

For the past three days, the city has been receiving good Monsoon rains. In fact, during the last 72 hours, the silicon city has recorded a good 96 mm of rain. A good 38 mm of rain has been received during the last 24 hours itself.

For once, it looked difficult for Bangalore to be able to achieve its monthly rainfall target. However, these three days of rains have not only helped the city in surpassing its monthly rainfall of 108.9 mm, but it has also let Bangalore record the highest rainfall in the month of July during the last seven years.

So far Bangalore has recorded 155.7 mm of rainfall and with two more days to go, the city may easily be able to surpass 200 mm rainfall as well. The last time such good rains were received in July was in the year 2008 when Bangalore had recorded 283.4 mm rainfall.

Good rains are expected to continue over Bangalore for another 48 hours. These rains can be attributed to the trough which is running from Central India up to Interior Tamil Nadu across South Interior Karnataka. However, after 24 hours, rain intensity is expected to reduce as the trough will shift eastwards.
