The state of Madhya Pradesh has been reeling under intense floods for the past few days. Several areas have been recording flooding rains. So much so that relief and rescue operations were in full swing. Some people were airlifted from Amiliya Village in Madhya Pradesh.

The flood situation has remained grim in many parts of Madhya Pradesh. In fact, places including Satna, Hoshangabad, Sagar and many other cities have been receiving rainfall in three digits. The death toll due to flood-related incidents has climbed to 22.

Hoshangabad has been one city which has been receiving very heavy to extremely heavy rains. In fact, during the past week, Hoshangabad has received a whopping 622 mm of rain. While 249 mm of rain was recorded on July 9, 132 mm of rainfall was received during the past 24 hours.

These rains can be attributed to the cyclonic circulation which is over Southwest Madhya Pradesh. Also, a low-pressure area is over Northeast Madhya Pradesh. Both these weather systems together have been giving good rains.

The situation remains grim over several areas of Madhya Pradesh. In fact, during the next 24 hours, Hoshangabad and its adjoining areas will continue to receive rain.
