On July 30, Katra recorded hefty showers of 292 mm of rainfall which happened to be the highest ever to be observed during the month of July. Previous record stood at 214 mm, which was in the year 1994.
During the last 24 hours, moderate rains were witnessed over the city of Katra. As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, rainfall activity will be on the moderate side as the Monsoon Trough is shifting northwards.
Along with this, easterly winds are also feeding moisture over the region, which will further enhance rains. A feeble Western Disturbance is also over North Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir, which will further aid in the upcoming rains.
Moderate showers will continue over southern parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh as well as Uttarakhand. Katra, in particular may receive moderate to heavy showers tomorrow. Thereafter, rainfall intensity will see a reduction, however, light rains will continue to be seen over Katra.
Temperatures will continue to be below normal, with maximums being in the higher 20s, and minimums around 28 degrees. Sky conditions will remain cloudy to partly cloudy during this time.
