Kerala is all set to see some heavy downpours

October 16, 2022 1:04 PM |

Kerala is one of the rain-deficient states in the South Peninsula along with Puducherry and Lakshadweep. Between October 1 and 15, Kerala is deficient by 45%. The Cyclonic Circulation over central and adjoining Southeast Arabian Sea and a trough extending from this cyclonic circulation to the Southwest Bay of Bengal will be responsible for moderate to heavy rain over many parts of Kerala. During the last 24 hours, rain activities have increased over southern parts of the state.

We expect intense showers to lash southern districts of Kerala for at least the next three days. Places such as Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha and Pathanamthitta may receive heavy downpours.

Northern districts of state such as Kasaragod, Kannur, Wayanad, Kozhikode, Malappuram, Palakkad and Thrissur may receive light rain with one or two moderate spells. Activities will start reducing by the evening of October 20. This rain spell improve the rain deficiency of Kerala to some extent.
