The landfall process of cyclone REMAL has already started. The forward section of the storm has reached inland. Heavy rains have commenced over Delta region. Kolkata is witnessing strong gusty winds of about 60 kmh. The city has recorded 14mm of rainfall till 8.30 p.m. Wind speed and intensity of rainfall will increase. Landfall process will complete by 0100 hr, on 27th May and the entire cloud mass will enter over land.
The storm is moving with a speed pf about 15 kmh and cross coast as severe cyclonic storm. Surface winds in excess of 100 kmh are expected to lash the area. Strong winds coupled with torrential rains have the potential of damaging dimensions. Exercise caution.
