Steady rain over Tamil Nadu and Kerala brings cheer to people of South India.

With few heavy spells of rain in last 24 hours, Northeast Monsoon gained strength over Southern Peninsula. The much awaited Monsoon showered parts of Tamil Nadu and Kerala with widespread rain and thundershowers that are likely to continue for next few days.

Easterly winds maintained its strength over South India along with thick cloud mass that gave heavy rain in Tamil Nadu. While Nagapattinam in TN received 90 mm of rain in past 24 hours, Chennai, Coonoor and Coimbatore received rain over 50 mm each in the same span.

As low pressure in Bay of Bengal intensifies, heavy rain is expected to lash the coastal Tamil Nadu and Kerala for few more days.
