During the past 24 hours from 08:30 am on Tuesday, Kozhikode recorded 15 mm of rains, Kannur 14 mm, Kochi 6 mm and Kottayam 2 mm.

The weathermen at Skymet Weather expect scattered light rains to continue over most parts of the state for the next 48 hours. Thereafter, the intensity of rains is likely to increase paving way for moderate rains with one or two heavy spells around October 14.

The intensification of the rainfall activity can be attributed to the formation of a trough that will run from Southwest Bay of Bengal to Kerala across Tamil Nadu.

By October 16, this weather system is most likely to weaken and the cyclonic circulation that is over Southwest Bay of Bengal will also move towards the north. Consequently, the rains will mark a decreasing trend over the region.

Morning and nights will remain contented, followed with humid days and maximums that will settle around 29-31 degrees between October 14-16. During this period, cloudy to overcast sky conditions are anticipated.
