Light rains in Delhi to improve pollution levels

Delhi weather had been dusty for almost about a week which had been wreaking havoc over the national capital. Due to a pressure gradient over Rajasthan and Gujarat region, dusty winds were prevailing over Delhi and adjoining areas. These dusty winds had not only caused the sky to look slightly polluted but had also caused the pollution levels to rise to quite an extent.

Now, this situation in Delhi and the NCR region as well as more adjoining areas is expected to subside to some extent as a Western Disturbance is seen over Jammu and Kashmir and its adjoining areas. Also, its associated cyclonic circulation is seen over Central Pakistan and adjoining areas which is moving east northeastwards.

Thus, with this, a change in wind pattern is seen along with which light dust storm accompanied with rains is expected over parts of Delhi and the NCR region during the next 24 to 48 hours. Due to this, pollution levels which are still hanging around in the severe category to some extent.

Today, the AQI stands at a whopping 405 which will tend to improve as light rains will wash away the dust laden winds.

Along with this, day temperatures will also witness a decrease with upcoming rainfall activity. Night temperatures which have been running quite high will also see a drop.
