Delhi witnessed thunderstorms/rain for two consecutive days on Friday and Saturday. Sunday remained free from any significant weather activity. However, neighbouring parts of Haryana, Rajasthan and West Uttar Pradesh had decent moderate showers.  Even parts of Delhi and its surroundings had light and scattered fleeting showers. Pitampura, Najafgarh, Mayur Vihar, Gurugram, Ghaziabad, Noida and Faridabad recorded light/single-digit rainfall. Rainfall was in patches and for brief durations. Base station Safdarjung and airport observatory Palam did not record any rainfall.  Still, both the base stations have recorded temperatures below normal for all four days in May. The lowest day maximum of 29.1°C, which was more than 10°C below the average, was registered on 02nd May at Safdarjung. The day was wrecked with severe thunderstorm activity over Delhi/NCR.

Western disturbance is marked as an upper-air trough over the mountains. An induced cyclonic circulation is lying over the North Rajasthan and Haryana region. An east-west trough, a persistent feature, is keeping proximity to the national capital. Conditions are quite favourable for light and short-lived rain and showers for the Delhi region over the next two days, more so late tonight and early morning tomorrow. A similar trend, albeit on a lighter note, may be seen in the subsequent 24 hours. Thereafter, neither any assurance of weather activity nor a broad clearance is assigned by the weather models. It is quite uncertain for two days, on 07th and 08th May 2025. On the following days, conditions start getting favourable for some more showers between 10th and 13th May 2025.

Unlike the previous episode of hazardous weather last Friday, no major interruption is envisaged for the next 3-4 days. Road, rail, and air operations are not likely to get impacted on account of inclement weather activity. Day temperatures may further drop to the low 30s, and the maximum may get arrested around 35°C. Weather conditions are likely to stay much better than expected around this time of the year. No heat wave is likely for the next one week. Rain and thundershowers—brief and light—will remain the highlights of weather this week.
