During the last 24 hours, most parts of Maharashtra have been receiving good rains. Heavy to extremely heavy rains occurred over Konkan and Goa, light to moderate rains with a few heavy spells were witnessed over Madhya Maharashtra. Scattered rains were witnessed over Vidarbha.

While Mumbai turned out to be receiving extremely heavy rains to the tune of 217 mm in the span of last 21 hours. Pune continued to record heavy Monsoon rains and thundershowers for the second consecutive day on Friday. Not just flooding the rains have been the reason for multiple casualties in Pune. A 60-ft-wall wall collapsed on Saturday in Pune's Kondhwa area. At least 15 people died in the incident. Rescue operations are underway.

Now, we expect heavy to very heavy rains to continue over Konkan and Goa for at least the next 24 hours i.e. until June 30. Mumbai may receive moderate to heavy spells with isolated very heavy spells until June 30.

Other parts of Konkan and Goa, right from Sindhudurg to Dahanu, will receive heavy rains. Scattered rains will continue in the interior parts. Particularly Madhya Maharashtra will also get moderate to heavy spells for the next 24 hours. Thereafter there will be a slight dip in rain intensity over the state. But soon after a Low-Pressure Area which is developing over the Bay of Bengal will move inland in westerly direction. On July 2, we expect moderate to heavy rains to commence over Vidarbha and Marathwada. On July 3, many parts of Maharashtra including Vidarbha, Marathwada and northern districts of Madhya Maharashtra will get moderate to heavy showers with isolated very heavy spells in the wake of a Low-Pressure Area.

On July 4, the rain activities will intensify over North Madhya Maharashtra and North Konkan and Goa. During that time also we expect that Dahanu, Thane and Mumbai will get moderate to heavy showers.

By July 5, the weather activities will start subsiding and rain intensity will go down over entire Maharashtra. So, we can say that until July 4, Maharashtra is going to receive very good rains which will help in restoring the reservoirs which otherwise had receded to their lowest water level in the past 10 years.
