January to March is a mainly dry period for the city of dreams, Mumbai. Thunderstorm activity picks up by May. Till then uncomfortable sultry weather engulfs the city. Some relief dawns upon the city only after dusk due to pleasing sea breeze.

Nevertheless, March 2016 could start on a rainy note in Mumbai.

The average rainfall for Mumbai in February is just 1.3 mm. So far the city has not received any rain at all. The discomfort level is a little high with day temperatures exceeding 30°C. The highest temperature reached this month was 33.2°C on February 22. Even the night temperatures are settling in low-twenties, making conditions even worse.

The month of March also receives just 0.2 mm on an average. At present, the situation seems favorable for some rain in Mumbai between March 1 and 4.

A confluence zone has been created in Central India due to winds coming from the North and warmer air coming from the Bay of Bengal. There is also a trough extending from West Madhya Pradesh to Madhya Maharashtra. Thus, most parts of Maharashtra including Mumbai and its suburbs will receive some rain.

This spell of rain will bring the much-needed relief from hot and humid weather conditions prevailing in Mumbai.
