Lenient monsoon activity is expected for most parts of Gujarat during the week. Remnant of the weather system over Rajasthan will trigger moderate rainfall today over many parts of the state, outside Kutch. Weather activity will largely ease out tomorrow onward. Partly cloudy sky with light rain is expected between 11th and 16thJuly over most parts, except South Gujarat, more so for the coastline from Vapi, Valsad, Navsari, Surat and Bharuch.
Both the sub divisions of Gujarat, namely Saurashtra & Kutch and North & South Gujarat have witnessed vigorous monsoon activity this season. Cyclone Biparjoy had earlier ravaged parts of Saurashtra & Kutch, even before the arrival of monsoon over the state. Later, this was followed by another prolonged spell triggered by the remnant of low pressure area of Bay of Bengal, reaching close proximity of the state. As of now, from 01stJune to 09thJuly, Saurashtra & Kutch is surplus by huge 197% and Gujarat region has an excess of 39% rainfall.
State of Gujarat is likely to have a much-needed breather from the intense weather activity, this week. The cyclonic circulation over the Northeast Arabian Sea is filled up. Another cyclonic circulation associated with a feeble low pressure over Rajasthan will also shift over West Uttar Pradesh, closer to the hills of Uttrakhand. This situation will dilute the scale of weather activity over most parts of the state, during the week, commencing tomorrow. Moderate showers can be expected today over South Coastal Gujarat, Saurashtra and North Gujarat, including the twin cities of Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad.
