Moderate rain in Jaipur, Alwar, Sikar; light shower in Udaipur, Kota

A larger portion of the state of Rajasthan remained mainly dry during the month of August. However, few parts of the state, particularly the southeastern districts had recorded good spells that too on few occasions.

During the last 24 hours, light to moderate showers were witnessed across the state like Tonk recorded moderate rainfall to the tune of 22 mm, Ajmer 21 mm, Pali 21 mm, Mount Abu 11 mm and Udaipur witnessed 5 mm of light rain.

Presently, the axis of Monsoon trough is oscillating north-south. On August 22, the trough was passing across Gujarat and by August 23 it shifted to North Rajasthan near Anupgarh. As of now also, it is oscillating slightly south and currently passing through Bikaner, Sikar, Gwalior and Allahabad.

Due to this, rain and thundershowers have commenced over northeastern districts of Rajasthan such as Jaipur, Alwar, Sikar, Sawai Madhopur and Jhunjhunu.

Weathermen at Skymet Weather expect rains to continue over East Rajasthan but most parts of West Rajasthan will witness dry weather for at least next 48 hours.

By August 27, a low pressure area will develop over Southwest Madhya Pradesh. During that time rains will increase over Southeast Rajasthan and places like Pratapgarh, Udaipur, Chittorgarh, Kota and Jhalawar may receive moderate to heavy showers.
