So far the month of July has remained good in terms of rains. Ever since Bihar started observing good rains, there was no looking back. Districts such as Patna did remain dry for a few days but for stations such as Gaya, Bhagalpur and Purnia were blessed with rains with only a few occasional showers.

In fact, rains have blessed the state of Bihar in the last 24 hours as well. Within a span of the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Monday, Gaya recorded 24 mm of rains, Chhapra 11.8 mm, Supaul 8 mm, Patna 7 mm and Purnea witnessed 6 mm of rains.

The reason for these light to isolated moderate spells over Bihar as per Skymet Weather can be well associated with the prevalence of the well-marked low-pressure area over Gangetic West Bengal and Jharkhand. Due to this, rains of light to moderate intensity were observed by parts of the state.

Moreover, the axis of Monson trough which is at present running via Gazipur has also contributed to these rains. Skymet Weather further reiterates that now this well-marked low-pressure area is expected to shift northwest towards North Chhattisgarh and Southeast Uttar Pradesh.

In addition to this, the axis of Monsoon trough will also shift towards north thereby increasing rains over the state. On account of this, moderate spells are expected to continue in South Bihar. Thus, districts such as Bhagalpur, Gaya, and Aurangabad may witness moderate spells.

While, light to moderate rains are likely to continue over the other parts of the state such as Patna, Supaul, Araria for the next 24-48 hours. Thereafter, the rain intensity is likely to reduce marginally.
