Maharashtra is one of the best performing regions, in terms of Monsoon rains, so far in India. The state has not received good rains throughout this month. Nevertheless, the left over excess rains from June and July still makes it one of the few places in the country with more than normal rains.

So far, Madhya Maharashtra has received 617.1 mm of rainfall against the normal of 509.3 mm. Therefore, this part of the state has witnessed 21% excess rains.

Marathwada also received 10% more rains than normal with a total of 476.5 mm of rainfall against the normal of 434.6. Vidarbha witnessed 13% excess rains after receiving 761.5 of rainfall against the normal of 672.1 mm rainfall.

Now we expect that light to moderate rains, with few good spells, will continue over Konkan and Goa and Vidarbha. However, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada will receive fewer rains. All in all, Maharashtra will end up as a winner this Monsoon season.

Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan are the other two states to witness above normal Monsoon rains in 2016.
