With many eyes anticipating Monsoon arrival over Delhi, Skymet has finally laid out as to when the heavenly rains might be a sight over the capital region. According to weathermen at Skymet, Monsoon might make an entry over the mainland anytime soon within the next two to three days. As an expectant date, Monsoon might make an onset over Delhi and its adjoining areas like Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad, Faridabad around July 6.
Not just Delhi but other Northwest states like Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh are also set to welcome Monsoon soon. The union territory of Chandigarh too might see Monsoon very soon.
Normally, Monsoon makes an onset over Delhi much before July start. However, this time Monsoon is running late over the entire country.
Just recently, the winds have changed direction from northwesterly to easterly. At present, a Trough is passing south of Delhi. Due to increased humidity, we expect isolated thundery activity or light rain in Delhi and NCR today and tomorrow i.e. on July 3 and 4.
On July 5 and 6, scattered rain and thundershower activities are expected over Delhi and NCR. But once again these activities will not be widespread. Rains will only remain patchy.
Due to easterly humid winds, cloud cover as well scattered rains, we expect the heat wave conditions to abate the region very soon. Temperatures will drop and might be recorded in higher 30s.
Although Monsoon will be declared over the region but it will be a very weak onset. Usually, the onset of Monsoon is preceded by pre-Monsoon showers. But we do not expect any good pre-Monsoon activities anytime soon and Monsoon will be struggling to reach Delhi. Even after the onset, Delhiites will not get to see any typical Monsoon-like continuous rains for the next many days.
