Monsoon rains may increase over East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand

July 31, 2022 2:38 PM |

The first two months of Southwest Monsoon are about to end. East India is yet to receive good monsoon rains. Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar are facing drought-like conditions. East Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand have received 50% below normal rain and Bihar 40% below normal rain.

The effect of rain deficiency is visible on the crops of these states. Paddy crop requires maximum rainfall and water. But in these states, low rainfall is affecting the paddy crop. Now the good news is that rain activities are going to increase from East Uttar Pradesh to Bihar and Jharkhand.

A Cyclonic Circulation is persisting over North East Uttar Pradesh and adjoining Bihar. All these states are likely to receive good rains during the next 4 or 5 days. Some districts of Bihar and Jharkhand may also get heavy rains. Rest all the districts may see light to moderate rain with heavy spells at one or two places.

Chances of very heavy rains are less in these states. Generally, it has been observed that whenever heavy rainfall activities occur in the hills of Nepal and Bihar, a flood-like situation arises. There is no chance of a flood-like situation this time. From 6th or 7th August, rain activities will reduce significantly over Bihar and East Uttar Pradesh. But the activities of light to moderate rate may continue in Jharkhand.
